Water Conservation

Rainwater catchment: Large volume rain water collection and storage systems have been incorporated into our USVI developments to provide a primary source of potable water where potable water scarcity is a reality.

  • Lovenlund Apartments (195 units) in St. Thomas, USVI
  • Bellevue Village (72 units) in St. John, USVI
  • Calabash Boom (48 apt units, 24 townhomes) in St. John, USVI

Water reclamation: Greywater produced by onsite wastewater treatment facilities, in areas that are unserved by public sanitary sewer, is used to provide irrigation and toilet flushing.

  • Calabash Boom (48 apt units, 24 townhomes), St. John, USVI – Onsite wastewater treatment facility provides reclaimed water for toilet flushing and irrigation
  • Lovenlund Apartments (195 units), St Thomas, USVI – Onsite wastewater treatment facility provides reclaimed water for toilet flushing and irrigation.
  • Donoe Apts (50 units), St. Thomas, USVI – rainwater cistern provides irrigation to concentrated landscaping around buildings.

Landscape:

  • Where possible, landscapes are designed to be indigenous to their respective sites and locations, allowing them to be non-irrigated, or irrigated with greywater systems, if available.
  • USVI projects have been planned and built with large areas of native growth landscape, eliminating the need for irrigation.
